SKEEM | Zodiac Ceramic Matches

Making the Matchbox Worth Keeping

I identified an opportunity to rethink traditional match packaging through an unexpected material: ceramic. After developing a reusable ceramic matchbox, I created an original zodiac collection that transformed the functional object into a personal, collectible gift. I led the project from initial concept and product design through artwork, development, production, and marketing.

The Opportunity

Looking beyond the paper box.

Traditional matches were typically housed in disposable paperboard packaging. I saw an opportunity to make the container itself part of the product, introducing ceramic to create something more permanent, decorative, and giftable.

I developed a reusable ceramic matchbox that reimagined a familiar everyday item as a small decorative object. The design balanced form and function, creating a new platform for artwork, storytelling, and future collections.

Product Innovation

From packaging to product.

A little something written in the stars.

The Collection

With the ceramic form established, I developed twelve original zodiac illustrations, creating a collection that made the product personal and collectible. Each sign became its own giftable object, giving customers a reason to choose, give, and collect.

Designed to give. Made to keep.

Bringing It to Market

I carried the concept through product development, packaging, photography, and marketing, creating a cohesive presentation that reinforced the collection's decorative and giftable qualities.

The Bigger Idea

A change in material can change the entire meaning of a product.
